Duncan Murray



Duncan is a director of Tyler Grange, heading up the Stroud office. Duncan has over 16 years' experience working for commercial consultancies and specialises in European Protected Species, legislation and Environmental Impact.

He has extensive, development project experience on sites of varying sizes from individual dwellings to strategic land allocations involving a wide range of issues. He has experience of projects from pre-acquisition, promotion through the Local Plan/LDF system, planning applications, EIA and SEIA, Appropriate Assessment and given evidence at Public Inquiry.


Notable, recent projects include horseshoe bat surveys and mitigation design for two successful planning applications in Bath; appearance at successful Appeal hearing against refusal of planning permission in Aston Clinton; and designed bat mitigation scheme to avoid the need for an European Protected Species licence at the former St John’s Hospital site in Chelmsford.


Duncan has a keen interest in mentoring and the career development of new ecologists. On his community days, he assists in the provision of outdoor play facilities at a local school.
